Business card

Business card has built-in Tetris game

They say that you never get a second chance at making a first impression, so when it comes to meeting up with some of your business associates for the first time, it might be prudent to have a really great looking business card to go alongside your winsome personality, so that they will have you in mind the next time they want to close a deal. Plain cards are simply boring, so why not make a statement with an interactive business card? This is what Bateske Design had set out to do, and the result of their work happens to be the Arduboy digital business card.

In essence, this is a small Arduino-based card which would enable ordinary folks to enjoy a game of Tetris on it. It is truly a testament to the wonders of miniaturization in the world of engineering where an OLED screen, capacitive D-pad, A/B buttons, and a piezo speaker has been crammed into a card no thicker than 1.6mm. Bateske Design is said to be working on a Kickstarter campaign soon for such interactive card, but the cost of one of these cards will not be affordable. It costs approximately $30 for a DIY kit, $50 for assembled cards, and $100 for those that will feature custom artwork.

Microchip Activated Pet Feeder

Microchip Activated Pet Feeder makes Fido more independent

Having a pet would mean being responsible for its health and overall well being, and this includes feeding it the recommended amount of food daily. However, there are times when we actually need to be away from the home longer than usual due to an impending deadline at the office, what are you to do to make sure that your pooch or kitty does not get hungry? Self-feeding machines that work using a timer might be a good idea, but the $79.95 Microchip Activated Pet Feeder could be more practical.
Basically, the Microchip Activated Pet Feeder happens to be a lidded pet bowl which will automatically open only when the intended pet approaches, which means that other dogs or cats in the house will not be able to obtain the food there. The included microchip tag would be attached to the pet’s collar, where it will transmit an infrared signal which opens the lid of the bowl whenever the pet comes within a 2′ distance. As the pet walks away, the lid will close. The microchip within happens to be a water-resistant, locket-sized plastic case which will not interfere with the pet’s normal movements. This might not be a good idea with breeds like the Labrador Retriever as it figures out quickly that being near the bowl would equal to food, and knowing its appetite, your food might not last it through a single meal time.

Google Glass

Google Glass is a wearable computer with an optical head-mounted display (OHMD) that is being developed by Google in the Project Glass research and development project, with a mission of producing a mass-market ubiquitous computer.[1] Google Glass displays information in a smartphone-like hands-free format,[9] that can communicate with the Internet via natural language voice commands.
While the frames do not currently have lenses fitted to them, Google is considering partnerships with sunglass retailers such as Ray-Ban or Warby Parker, and may also open retail stores to allow customers to try on the device. The Explorer Edition cannot be used by people who wear prescription glasses, but Google has confirmed that Glass will eventually work with frames and lenses that match the wearer's prescription; the glasses will be modular and therefore possibly attachable to normal prescription glasses.[12] On 26 Jan 2014, Google announced that they were adding four prescription frame choices for about $225.00 U.S. It is necessary to remove a small screw in order to move the Google Glass from one frame to another.
Glass is being developed by Google X,[13] which has worked on other technologies such as driverless cars. The project was announced on Google+ by Project Glass lead Babak Parviz, an electrical engineer who has also worked on putting displays into contact lenses; Steve Lee, a product manager and "geolocation specialist"; and Sebastian Thrun, who developed Udacity as well as worked on the autonomous car project.[14] Google has patented the design of Project Glass. Thad Starner, an augmented reality expert, is a technical lead/manager on the project.
